PAWS is people helping cats, dogs and wild animals go home and thrive – whether home is the family room or the forest. We do this by rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife, sheltering and adopting homeless cats and dogs, and educating the community to inspire compassionate action for animals.

Dog paws come in three main shapes: webbed feet, hare feet, and cat feet. While most dogs have some degree of webbing between their toes, proper webbed feet are found on dogs known for hunting, retrieving, and swimming.

Can an animal use it paws for other things besides walking/running? Yes, many animals use their paws to hit or swipe at another animal. They can dig in the dirt. By digging they can get something or bury something.

Certain animals with distinct toes have very long, sharp and, usually, curved nails. These are called paws and the entire foot of any animal with paws is called a claw.
